Most Underated Band

Bookmark and Share

Finally they get the recognition they deserve in our poll

Winner: Motorhead
Underated?? You bet. Its not as though they haven’t tried either. They put it best themselves:

We bring you UFOs, saucers in the sky
We shoot you full of noise, we aim to kill
We burn like motherf***ers, spit right in your eye
We fight authority, we glorify free will
We are the ones you heard of, but you never heard
We are electric prophets, here to twist the world
We are the flame at night, the fire in the trash
We are Motorhead, we are Motorhead
Quite.

2. Thunder
The hardest working band in the world…well nearly. Chris, Ben, Danny, Harry and Luke are almost always touring, give great value for money, and are still recording.

3. Magnum
Magnum have never been huge, and yet they should have been Catleys vocals and Clarkins songs. It should have been heaven.

4. Barclay James Harvest
They looked set for stardom. A deal on the same label as Pink Floyd, part of their name came from a successful bank, but it wasn’t to be. We love them though.

5. Dream Theater
Capable of the heavy stuff like Pantera, and the thoughtful stuff like Led Zep, they should have been massive, but……..ho hum.

6. Twisted Sister
Very very very very popular for 3 nanoseconds, and very very very heavy, then very very very forgotten.

7. Rory Gallagher
A creative genius and an all round decent bloke. Much missed. Try his music with ‘Taste’ in the early 70’s, or the compilation ‘Edged in Blue’ for a good round up.

8. Wishbone Ash
The only rock band that Torquay has ever produced, and still with a fanatical following, ‘The Ash’ are sounding as good as ever.

9. Kansas
The album ‘Leftoverture’ is described as ‘Rocking like a 3 legged dog on crack’. ‘nuff said.

10. Bachman Turner Overdrive
First album in ’73, still going, after a fashion, today, and responsible for ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet…bbbbbbbbbaby’. Underrated…..probably.
