Best Rock Scream

We've devised the ultimate list of electrifying, blood chilling, goose bump enducing screams in rock.
Winner: Ian Gillan - Child In Time, Made in Japan.
We can’t argue with this. It’s a scream Ian doesn’t do anymore because if he did, he would die….fact. If you hear a sound like a gunshot, its not. Apparently a Mike stand fell over, but it was the best take.
2. Robert Plant - Led Zeppelin, Whole Lotta Love
Oh-so-nearly number one, this epic from the Black Country Kid features many great yells, but the You needed llllllooooooovvvvveeeeeeeeee bit got your vote. Masterful.
3. Joe Cocker - A Little Help From My Friends
A gospel choir?? In Waltz time??? Yes, and it featured in Woodstock, so it must be good.
4. Roger Daltrey - The Who, Won't Get Fooled Again
Fabulous ‘YEAH!!!’ at the end of the ARP solo, in which Roger would move about caught in a laser beam at gigs, prompting Pete to describe him as a ‘hairy bear in fog’.
5. Pink Floyd - Careful With That Axe Eugene
The start of Roger Waters screaming career, perfected on the Wall, plus some fabulous guitar from Gilmour. Rick sounds very Manzarek too. Lovely.
6. Brian Johnson - AC/DC
Various screams from the fan-turned-lead vocalist. Gargles with glass and meths to achieve his art.
7. Noddy Holder - Slade
His screams were perfected in the factories of the Black Country, but though the Nodster is often thought of as a bit of a stomper, he had a sensitive side too. See ‘How does it feel’ for reference.
8. Steven Tyler – Aerosmith
It’s a surprise he could scream through all those pills, but the sound may have been not his, but his liver, trying to escape his body through his lips. Hmmm.
9. Axl Rose - Guns n Roses
A good screamer, having mastered his art shouting at all his band mates, either to bollock them or try and get them out of the trance.
